Yuki KOBAYASHI

KOBAYASHI was born in 1990, Tokyo, Japan. He studied University of Hawaii, Kapiolani Community College, Hawaii, USA Art major since 2008. After moved to London in 2010, he received BA Fine art from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London, UK in 2014 and MA Fine Art from Royal College of Art, Painting, Performance pathway, London, UK in 2016. KOBAYASHI uses his body to explore the neutrality of gender. Questioning racial stereotypes, looking into human relations. KOBAYASHI’s action-based performance seek to reveal the authenticity of the human condition, working with the unexpected and the spontaneous to discover the invisible. Questioning both power and restrictive social codes towards a more uncertain world of freedom and equality. KOBAYASHI has been participating in several exhibitions, festivals and workshops world widely such as Fluxus event scores from the collection of Grapefruit by Yoko ONO, “Water (Spring 1964)” at White Cube Gallery, Bermondsey (London, 2015), Solo Exhibition, “New Gender Bending Strawberry”, Chabah Yelmani Gallery (Brussels, 2015), Slick Art Fair 2015 (Paris, 2015), Dada 100th Anniversary Festival at Spiral (Tokyo, 2016), “Policy until Christmas” in the exhibition of Acting Together at ASAKUSA (Tokyo, 2016), Peckham 24 (London, 2017), Yokohama Paratriennale 2017, ArtSonje (Seoul, 2017) and 18th Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh 2018. KOBAYASHI was selected as a performer in the exhibition of Marina ABRAMOVIĆ “The Cleaner” at Bundeskunsthalle, Bonn (Germany, 2018).
